- General Summary of the Program:
Under the Connecticut E-Waste Law, manufacturers of covered electronic devices (CEDs) must participate in a state-wide electronics recycling program established by the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to implement and finance the collection, transportation, and recycling of CEDs from Connecticut households. Manufacturers also have the option of participating in their own private recycling plan which must meet the same requirements as the state-wide electronics recycling program. The Connecticut DEP will approve covered electronic recyclers (CERs) to participate in the state-wide program and invoice manufacturers for CEDs collected, transported, and recycled under the program. Under the law, municipalities in Connecticut are required to provide for the collection of Connecticut household-generated CEDs in their communities.
