- General Summary of the Program:
Under the Hawaii Electronic Waste and TV Recycling and Recovery Law, manufacturers of covered televisions and covered electronic devices (CEDs) are required to implement a recycling program in Hawaii. Manufacturers of covered TVs must implement a program to recover their market share of covered TVs sold in Hawaii. Manufacturers of CEDs have no recycling obligation, but must implement a program to recover CEDs from Hawaii covered entities. There are no registration requirements for collectors, transporters or recyclers under the Hawaii program.
- Items that Require a Manufacturer to Register:
A Covered Electronic Device (CED) or a Covered TV. A CED is a computer, computer printer, computer monitor, or portable computer with a screen size greater than 4 inches measured diagonally. A covered TV any device capable of receiving broadcast, cable or satellite signal, including without limitation any direct view or projection TV with a viewable screen or nine inches or larger.

Manufacturers of CEDs are able to accept any brand of CEDs for collection and recycling under their program. Manufacturers of covered TVs are able to accept any brand of covered TVs for collection and recycling under their program.
