- General Summary of the Program:
Under the South Carolina Manufacturer Responsibility and Consumer Convenience Information Technology Equipment Collection and Recovery Act, manufacturers of covered computer devices and covered televisions are required to register with the state and implement recovery programs. Manufacturers of covered computer devices are required to implement a plan to take back their own brand of covered computer devices from South Carolina consumers. Manufacturers of televisions are required to implement a recover program to collect and recycle a market share portion of the televisions they sell at retail in South Carolina.
*Many of the details of the E-Cycle South Carolina program will be forthcoming as regulations are promulgated regarding implementation of the program.
- Items that Require a Manufacturer to Register:
Covered device - a covered computer device and a covered television device marketed and intended for use by a consumer. A covered computer device is a computer (desktop, notebook/laptop), computer monitor or printing device. A covered television device is a television (no screen size limit).
- Items Eligible to Be Collected Under Program:
Manufacturers of covered computer devices are required to take back their own brand of covered computer devices which is a computer (desktop, notebook/laptop), computer monitor, and printing device. Manufacturers of covered televisions are able to take back any brand of covered television.
- Entities Eligible to Collect From Under Program:
Consumer - an occupant of a single detached dwelling unit or a single unit of a multiple dwelling unit who has used a covered device primarily for personal or home business use.
