- General Summary of the Program:
As part of the Texas Computer-Equipment Recycling Program, manufacturers of computer equipment are required to implement a takeback program for Texas consumers (households) to take back their own brand labeled computer equipment. Computer equipment includes a desktop or netbook (laptop) computer, computer monitor, and any accompanying keyboard and mouse if the keyboard and mouse are from the same manufacturer as the computer equipment. Manufacturers are not required to take back computer equipment that was manufactured and sold under another manufacturer’s brand label.
Manufacturers are able to set-up any type of program to take back their own products – mail-back program, contract with a local collection program, hold a special collection event, etc. They also must post information regarding their takeback program on their manufacturer website.
There are no obligations for TV manufacturers under the Texas Computer-Equipment Recycling Program.

Computer Equipment - A desktop or notebook computer (laptop computer with a video display greater than four inches) including a computer monitor or other display device that does not contain a tuner. Computer equipment includes its accompanying keyboard and mouse if the keyboard and mouse are from the same manufacturer as the computer equipment.
