- General Summary of the Program:
Under the Utah Disposal of Electronic Waste Program, manufacturers of consumer electronic devices (CEDs) must implement a collection, reuse, or recycling system for CEDs. Manufacturers can implement one of 3 types of eligible programs: (1) a system by which a manufacturer, manufacturer's desginee, or other private entity offers a consumer an option to return a CED by mail; (2) a system using a physical collection site that a manufacturer, manufacturer's desginee, or other private or public entity provides for a consumer to return a CED; or (3) a system that uses a collection event held by a manufacturer, manufacturer's designee, or other private or public entity at which a consumer may return a CED. There is no recycling goal for manufacturers nor is there an annual registration or registration fee. Manufacturers must submit an annual report that details their eligible program and a one-time submission of their public education plan. There are no registration or reporting requirements for collectors or recyclers.
