  • General Summary of the Program:
    Under the Virginia Computer Recovery and Recycling Act, manufacturers must adopt and implement a recovery plan for consumers of their branded computer equipment. The program must allow consumers to recycle computer equipment that is labeled with the manufacturer's brand for free once it has reached the end of its useful life. Manufacturers can choose to offer their consumers collection opportunities for computer equipment through any type of program that is reasonably convenient and available to consumers including a mail-back program, physical collection site, or special collection event. There are no registration or reporting requirements for collectors and/or recyclers working with a manufacturer program.
