- General Summary of the Program:
Under the Washington Electronic Product Recycling Law, manufacturers of covered electronic products (CEPs) are responsible for financing their return share obligation of CEPs collected and recycled from covered entities in the state. Manufacturers can choose to participate in the state standard plan operated by the Washington Materials Management and Financial Authority or to implement their own independent plan (or coordinate with other manufacturers to implement an independent plan). Any collectors, transporters, and recyclers utilized by either the standard plan or an independent plan must be in compliance and registered with the Washington Department of Ecology.

Covered electronic product (CEP) - computer (desktop, laptop), computer monitor (screen size greater than 4 inches measured diagonally), and television (with screen size greater than 4 inches measured diagonally)

Manufacturers are responsible for their return share obligation of their covered electronic products returned for recycling by covered entities through either the state standard plan or their own independent plan.
